I know many people (myself included) expected the Cavs to do much better since making the trade for Ben Wallace, Wally Sczerbiak and company on Feb. 22, but since that date, the team has never really seemed to gel and has posted a mediocre 12-10 mark. With six games remaining in the regular season and with the seemingly never-ending playoffs right around the corner, their play worries me and I'm beginning to have second thoughts about this trade. Two friends of mine had a drunken debate the other night after the Charlotte game about whether or not the Cavs are the team to beat going into the playoffs. One argued since they are the defending Eastern Conference Champions that they are. The other made the argument that despite having a 2-2 record against the Cavs, the Celtics are indeed the team to beat because they've already won 60 games this season and in order for the Cavs to make it to the NBA Finals again, their road will likely go through both Boston and Detroit.
Note: My one friend who thinks Boston is the team to beat thought Wally Sczerbiak was a black guy. He later found out that Wally is, indeed, a white man. But to his credit, we were both pretty gone when he said this, and I think he's probably right about this.
Anyway you look at it, the Cavs road to the NBA Finals is looking ridiculously hard, and with the way they've been playing lately, it's looking very unlikely. Last night's loss against the Bulls made me come to the realization that LeBron James cannot do it all by himself again, and asking him to do so time after time will likely to lead to his depature when his contract is up.
The King scored 33 points last night, but the Wine and Gold still managed to find a way to lose to the Larry Hughes-led Chicago Bulls, 101-98, as Hughes looked LeBron-esque, finishing with 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists.
But who knows, if Ben Wallace and Wally Sczerbiak can make worthwhile contributions come postseason, the Wine and Gold could possibly make the unlikely happen again by taking out Boston and Detroit. We all know what we're going to see out of LeBron James come playoff time. But just in case you forgot, refer to the video below.

Is Kevin Love the dominate D-1 basketball player version of Nick? Cuz I think he is. Right down to the fucking number.
